GASTRONOMIC CULTURE

Castro Urdiales has a gastronomic offering that supersedes even many of the major Basque cities. It’s particularly famous for its calamaris, turbots, anchovies, barnacles, mussels, spider crabs and liquors.

The perfect day trip from Bilbao, the town is surrounded by cold and deep waters on one side and lush mountains, giving it a variety of different produce. The pilgrims are around in their way to Santiago de Compostela. And the local bars here created extraordinary pintxos, built from exceptional ingredients.
