Gastronomic Culture
Bilbao has become a true gastronomic and architectural centre. It’s a city home to hundreds of bars, each with its own traditions and specialties. One of our guides will accompany you on this Bilbao food tour, taking you to the most unique places in the city, away from the tourist traps.
During our Bilbao Food Tour, you will learn which pintxos (Basque tapas) to order in each place, understand the different ways that the Basques serve their dishes, and of course discover the most traditional plates and drinks.
Local Expertise
Your Bilbao food tour will be led by an expert culinary guide, giving you the chance to taste the best selection of Basque food. You will try high end Basque food from the number one pintxo the gilda, to the best cod to the super tasty Cantabric crab among many others. Your guide will also help you understand the roots of each dish you try and its ingredients.
In each place, we will recommend various local drinks to pair with your food, from red wine and Basque cider to Txakoli white wine and craft beers. The drinks recommended in each bar can always be replaced with non-alcoholic options if you wish.
Brief History of Bilbao
Bilbao is a very walkable city and our Bilbao food tour will enable to explore the hidden corners of this city on foot. Depending on the day the itinerary might include visits to the the Old Town, markets or the newer areas of the expansion.
Whilst we are discovering all about the history, culture and customs of the city, we will stop in bars and cafes along the way.
